The Canadian Banking Finance, Expense Management (CBF-EM) team aims to manage expenses through strategic, insightful, and timely financial analysis in a dynamic environment. Expenses are managed in a matrix view by category and by Canadian Banking’s (CB) business lines (Retail, Tangerine, Small Business, and Commercial Banking). Our primary stakeholders are the Finance and CB Business Line’s executive leadership team. The Senior Manager will lead the team in providing accurate, detailed, and timely expense analytics, including planning, forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc requests.

A key to our success is openness to change and the ability to drive it. The Senior Manager is expected to lead change initiatives such as Hyperion T4 and internal change management projects.

h3>Role Responsibilities

  1. Lead consolidation and analysis of CB’s non-interest expense reporting, forecasting, and planning processes:
  2. Coordinate timely delivery of forecasts and profit plans, including post-quarter forecasts, pre-quarter forecasts, quarter-end reasonability, stress testing, and annual profit planning.
  3. Communicate expectations and deliverables effectively to the CBF-EM team and stakeholders.
  4. Provide insightful expense analytics on quarter-end, forecasts, and ad hoc basis, responding to queries from executive management.
  5. Analyze expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements.
  6. Collaborate on expense process and reporting design, integrating with Finance Transformation initiatives.
  7. Serve as the primary contact for Finance Transformation initiatives, leading system/reporting requirements, testing, and rollout.
Relationship Management and Leadership
  1. Build strategic relationships with key partners across the division for seamless reporting.
  2. Promote a collaborative environment and empower team members.
  3. Align individual and team goals; develop employee growth plans and address development needs.
  4. Share knowledge to enhance team development and performance.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional accounting designation or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in Category and Cost Management.
  • Strong knowledge of the banking industry and Canadian Banking.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with senior management.
  • Proven leadership and relationship management skills.
  • Strong financial reporting and control skills, with attention to detail.
  • Availability for overtime during peak periods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Oracle, Smartview, and Hyperion.
