Overview

The Tax HR Business Partner (HRBP) collaborates with the Tax Canadian Managing Partner (CMP) and Tax Leadership Team (TLT) to develop and implement the Tax Talent Management Strategy and related programs within Tax. As an ‘HR Account Manager’ for the Tax function, the HRBP works with specialists across Talent Attraction, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, and other HR Business Partners to assess the current state of the function from a people perspective and recommend future strategies to effectively deploy, retain, engage, and develop talent.

What You Will Do
  • Participate as an active member of the National HR Leadership Team representing the Tax function.
  • Act as an internal consultant to the Tax team, providing solutions and strategic insights for current and future talent needs.
  • Share industry and market best practices and offer thought leadership on organizational and people-related talent strategies.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with leadership at an executive level to add value to business results.
  • Provide overall functional HR direction during business planning in collaboration with the Tax Leadership Team and the National HR Leadership Team.
  • Analyze talent issues with the CMP and TLT, determine solutions for functional challenges, and partner with Centres of Expertise (CoEs) when necessary, bringing data and insights to discussions.
  • Develop talent through succession planning and next-generation leadership processes across the function.
  • Identify ways to enhance teamwork within Tax, highlighting themes and opportunities for individual growth and development.
  • Coordinate with other HR Business Partners to drive cross-functional efficiencies.
  • Act as a liaison across HR (Delivery Center and CoEs) to ensure aligned and optimized HR services for the Tax function.
What You Bring To The Role
  • 10+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner or HR practitioner.
  • 5+ years of professional services experience with a deep understanding of the Tax business and current talent trends.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly with stakeholders and influence at leadership and executive levels.
  • Extensive HR experience in reward principles, performance management, career development, learning, organizational development, and assessment.
  • CHRP or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analysis, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to market changes.
  • Self-starter capable of providing timely and relevant insights to leadership.
  • Strong skills in understanding business issues, building rapport, inquiry, listening, diagnosis, and influencing for agreement and commitment.
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral, with the ability to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues and stakeholders. Ability to interpret and apply policies, practices, laws, and regulations as needed.

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range is $115,500 to $193,000, potentially eligible for bonuses. Salary within this range depends on location, skills, competencies, and qualifications. KPMG also offers a comprehensive Total Rewards program.
