Job Description: Licensed Practical Nurse

Under the supervision of the Manager or designate and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides care to complex but stable residents/clients. Responsibilities include performing assessments, planning and providing personal care, and executing nursing procedures. The LPN operates within the full scope of practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to competency guidelines, agency policies, standards, and unit protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
• For MHSU positions, additional education as required by BCCNM for practice involving primary diagnoses of Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

Skills and Abilities

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Organizational skills to plan and implement care.
• Competence to work at the full scope of practice, including medication administration, as required by BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
