Job description

Our client is a major Insurance company in the K-W-C triangle.

They’re looking for two team leaders and two junior-mid level analysts. We are offering a $750 referral fee as per the details found on our website.

As a member of the Actuarial Services Department, you will be part of a dynamic Research and Development team. You will be responsible for utilizing various statistical techniques to explore and analyze large quantities of data to discover meaningful patterns and rules. Depending on your experience level, you will be involved or lead a team responsible for creating predictive models in order to support the business decision-making process for our client’s Personal Insurance, Commercial Insurance, and Claims Departments.

For the Team Lead Roles Only:

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Coach a team of individuals who are responsible for creating predictive models for various business applications.
  2. Provide technical guidance to the staff in the area of predictive analytics.
  3. Performance management of staff including on-going feedback and support.
  4. Liaising with our internal business partners to understand their objectives and then work jointly with them to recommend predictive analytics solutions.
  5. Present numerical findings in a straightforward business setting.
  6. Past experience in a leadership role.
For Team Lead and Junior – Mid Level Roles:

Personal Characteristics:

  1. Strong analytical abilities, especially in the area of numerical analysis.
  2. The ability to understand a business challenge or opportunity and then use statistical analysis to bring forth recommendations.
  3. Remain calm under pressure and perform well in a busy environment.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Team player.
Qualifications:
  1. A university degree in Statistics or a related discipline.
  2. Prior work experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, using GLM's for pricing or predictive modeling applications.
  3. SAS programming skills.
  4. Preference will be given to candidates who:
  5. Are working towards a designation in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  6. Have predictive modeling experience using SAS/EM or any other data mining tool related to the P&C industry.
