Job description

School District No. 73 - Indigenous Education Worker (IEW) Relief Roster

School District No. 73 is currently accepting applications for the Indigenous Education Worker (IEW) Relief roster, with the possibility of an appointment to a position in the 2024/2025 school year.

Indigenous Education Workers provide assistance and support to either individual or groups of Indigenous students. The successful applicants will be of Indigenous ancestry and have a thorough knowledge of applicable Indigenous culture, tradition, and issues, both historical and contemporary.

Qualifications
  1. Grade 12 supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Education Assistant and Community Support Certificate)
  2. Two (2) years proven previous work experience working with children, preferably of Indigenous ancestry.
  3. Valid B.C. Driver's License.
  4. Indigenous language skills and previous experience supporting the Indigenous community would be an asset.

The successful incumbent(s) must be willing to travel to outlying communities while on relief.
