SUMMARY:

This role involves managing the pharmacy operations during your shift, providing consultations to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to the full scope of professional services, dispensing medications, and maintaining dispensary standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Pharmacy and Customer Service
2. Acknowledge all customers approaching the pharmacy
3. Operate within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements
4. Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent management
5. Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
6. Practice to the full extent of your professional scope, including professional services
7. Be clearly identifiable to the public
8. Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed
9. Communicate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate customer care
10. Maintain all required records according to legislation, standards, and policies

Workflow and Inventory Management:

1. Control access to the dispensary, respecting inventory and patient confidentiality
2. Review and maintain workflow queues daily
3. Regularly review 'will call' bins per SOPs
4. Check for expired inventory
5. Oversee stock levels and medication orders from wholesalers
6. Ensure compliance with the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including reporting to Health Canada and regulators

Operations:

1. Maintain an appropriate image of the pharmacy in all work areas
2. Assist with financial reporting as needed
3. Respond to store communications via the in-store web
4. File incident reports for medication or privacy issues involving customers or staff

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

1. Ability to think independently and make decisions
2. Plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach pharmacy colleagues
3. Proven ability to grow and lead the business, support programs, and lead by example
4. Exceptional customer service skills and professionalism
5. Strong problem-solving skills with experience in action planning
6. Proficiency in personal computing and pharmacy systems is an asset
7. Adherence to health and safety procedures
8. Complete mandatory and voluntary continuing education as required
