District Position
Inclusive Education

1.0 CONT Teacher Psychologist (located at the School Board Office). Please refer to the attached Job Description.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct psycho-educational assessments to identify student strengths and needs, and recommend appropriate interventions and supports.
  2. Collaborate with school-based teams, District teams (e.g., Inclusive Education, Safe Schools, Curriculum Transformation), parents/guardians, and community agencies (e.g., Community Living BC, MCFD) regarding student strengths, needs, their educational implications, and ways to enhance learning and well-being.
  3. Make recommendations to the District Principal of Inclusive Education Services regarding student eligibility for specific BC Ministry of Education categories.
  4. Assist in developing student IEPs as appropriate.
  5. Provide guidance to Inclusion Support Teachers on the use of Level B assessment tools and offer in-service training in this area.
  6. Provide additional in-service for educators and support staff as required.
  7. Stay current with educational and psychological research to inform practice.
Education and Experience
  • Doctorate or master's degree in school/educational psychology or a related field with a focus on school psychology.
  • Registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia or eligibility for registration.
  • Knowledge of the BC Ministry of Education Inclusive Education Services Manual of Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel between schools.

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $58,635 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications, in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
