About the role

The Manager oversees the full employee lifecycle, from hiring to coaching, supporting problem-solving for complex employee relations and OH&S issues with tact and discretion. They set program goals, establish policies, and ensure resource alignment.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and implement communication plans to promote the Communications branch to stakeholders including Métis citizens
  • Interact with high emotional intelligence, demonstrating empathy and understanding
  • Identify communication opportunities and needs
  • Create targeted campaigns using web, newsletters, social media, and events; evaluate success
  • Manage the Communications inbox and team direction
  • Develop work plans, quality measures, and prioritize tasks
  • Manage employment lifecycle for direct reports, including recruitment and performance management
  • Manage budgets for projects, contracts, and supplies
  • Attend and present at meetings with senior management, funders, and government officials
  • Work with the team to improve program effectiveness

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of People Management experience in Communications
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience creating diverse communication materials
  • Experience managing operations in fast-paced environments
  • Experience organizing large events with multiple stakeholders
  • Leadership with empathy
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Reliable work ethic, excellent communication, high self-awareness
  • Strong desire to serve Métis Citizens and promote culture and rights
  • Knowledge of Métis/Indigenous policy or ability to acquire quickly
