Position Title: Designer
Reports To: Director, Corporate Marketing

Department: Brand Impact
Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

With a newly launched brand and a growing design team, we are looking for a collaborative designer who will work with peers as an individual contributor on the design team to continue to enhance the design function at Equitable. What you will be doing:

  • Work collaboratively on a creative design team by maintaining positive relationships with colleagues that require design services to meet expectations and business needs. Ensures that work orders are fully completed, clarify specifications and scope, understand objectives and negotiate deadlines as required.
  • Manage the creative production process, managing the flow of work through the design team, assigning tasks to the most appropriate people and ensuring that standards for quality and branding are maintained, and that deadlines are met.

  • Maintain design dashboard, pending and completed projects, and communicate updates on work order status—including delays and changes in scope—on a regular basis.
  • Monitor capacity among the design team and assign tasks to freelance graphic designers as required, ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work with teams and external providers to help ensure timely delivery of rush requests and urgent business needs.
  • Troubleshoot projects, working with internal clients, creative service teams and external vendors to develop cost-effective solutions for challenges that arise.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory and the tracking of forms and marketing collateral.
  • Manage relationships, evaluations, programs and brand standards with printers and promotional material vendors.
  • Help develop and manage team processes and programs within the new working model.
  • Ensure the consistent application of the Brand Playbook and Brand UX - UI Guidelines across all lines of business and departments.

What you will bring:

  • 5-7 years experience in a Graphic Services and/or Print Production role, preferably in the financial industry.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Graphic Design or equivalent.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to unique situations and projects.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to allocate, manage, coordinate resources to handle project workload with on-time delivery.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Project management and budget tracking abilities.
  • Exceptional knowledge of print production.
  • An innovative thinker with the desire to constantly improve team's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite, with experience on both Mac and PC platforms.
