Job Description

Position Purpose Summary:

This position supports the Food Bank and Thrift Store operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and be able to perform various logistical and warehouse duties.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure all pickups and deliveries are conducted safely and properly recorded.
  2. Coordinate with staff and direct volunteers reporting to the Food Bank Supervisor.
  3. Organize the warehouse, ensuring proper rotation and timely movement of food to the packing room and lobby.
  4. Maintain cleanliness of bins, floors, coolers, and freezers; dispose of garbage regularly.
  5. Keep aisles, exits, and receiving areas clear of obstructions.
  6. Handle products safely using dollies and carts, maintaining social distancing and adhering to safety protocols.
  7. Organize freezer and cooler storage to ensure product accessibility, rotation, and temperature monitoring; report deficiencies to the manager.
  8. Ensure the availability of products for hamper packers.
  9. Schedule and deliver hampers as needed.
  10. Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
  11. Follow safe work practices when operating equipment.
  12. Transport large items to disposal areas.
  13. Assist with recycling activities.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
  15. Must be capable of driving a forklift.
Qualifications and Education
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Grade 12 education preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years warehouse and delivery experience; 1-2 years truck delivery experience is an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to be bondable.
  • Alignment with Salvation Army’s mission and local ministries.
  • Professional attitude and positive customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Flexible, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Neat and clean appearance.
Preferred Skills and Capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Physical strength to walk, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; experience with dollies, carts, and pallet jacks.
Pre-employment Requirements
  • Background check consent.
  • Vulnerable sector screening.
  • Clean driver’s abstract.
  • Completion of online Armatus Abuse Training and Health & Safety training.
Compensation
