Job description

This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants.

Note: Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply if it conflicts with their current LTO. All LTO assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2-weeks' notice.

Qualifications/Requirements

A condition of employment as an EA/CYW with the Waterloo Region District School Board is passing a Physical Demands test. All job offers will be conditional on passing all components of this test. This applies to any EA/CYW without Permanent/LTO level D hours.

Educational Assistant Qualifications

  • Certified Teachers
  • Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Developmental Service Worker (DSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Social Services Diploma (SSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Alternative EA Qualifications with Experience ***
  • Post-secondary degree in Sociology with at least one (1) year (1,224 hours) of related work experience supporting children with special needs, or relevant volunteer experience
  • Minimum six (6) months diploma in a child-related discipline with at least one (1) year (1,224 hours) of related work experience, or relevant volunteer experience
  • Minimum six (6) months certificate in a child-related discipline with at least one (1) year (1,224 hours) of related work experience, or relevant volunteer experience
  • Degree/diploma in a supporting discipline with at least one (1) year (1,224 hours) of related work experience, or relevant volunteer experience

Assets

  • Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification
  • Experience working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities, school-based experience preferred
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder Training
  • Lifting/Positioning Training
