Job description

Shipping/Receiving Associates work as part of a team to load and unload merchandise from carriers and receive goods in detail while checking the quantity and quality of merchandise. This individual is required to be licensed to use powered forklift which may be used when loading and unloading trucks and moving freight from receiving to designated staging areas. A successful candidate must have a high level of work commitment, attention to detail and the ability to learn and follow procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading merchandise using designated equipment
  • Receiving special orders as well as stock replacement.
  • Identifying and reading vendor packing slips, carrier shipping documents, UPC labels and other documents and comparing to purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Counting carton freight and merchandise to satisfy freight bill.
  • Following appropriate procedures to ship and receive transferred merchandise.
  • Researching shipment/paperwork discrepancies and resolving scheduling or delivery issues/conflicts.
  • Maintaining lift equipment.
  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Moving freight from receiving to designated staging areas using the appropriate equipment and communicating with the Shipping Team to ensure merchandise is optimally staged.
  • Cleaning and maintaining shipping and receiving areas (e.g. removing pallets and cardboard boxes from the floor, clearing area to make room for new merchandise)
  • Provide additional help in our Packaging department when required

Experience/Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings and possible early evenings.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift is preferred
  • Previous experience loading curtain side trailers
  • Strong attention to detail, a “can do” attitude, and commitment to safety
  • Physically fit and willing to assist with manual lifting when needed
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.
