Job description

The Loss Prevention Coordinator is responsible for investigating preventable loss in our retail stores in Calgary and Southern Alberta and conducts store audit procedures. The ideal candidate is highly dependable, demonstrates ethical and safe work practices, has a high level of discretion, and is passionate about loss prevention initiatives. The successful candidate will live in Calgary or the surrounding area and be able to drive to our stores within this geographical area. You will work flexible hours to accommodate store hours of operation. In this role, you will embody our value of Doing the Right Thing by protecting People, Assets, and Brands. You will work in an energized, fast-paced environment focused on creating a safe environment for our employees and customers.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying and mitigating external theft and fraud trends within specific markets and stores.
  2. Recommending and implementing systems to minimize loss of merchandise, money, or assets.
  3. Auditing our POS system by store to identify issues.
  4. Monitoring inventory to identify issues at the store level.
  5. Investigating suspicious customer and/or employee activity remotely via CCTV.
  6. Conducting periodic audits to ensure surveillance systems are functioning properly.
  7. Working with the finance team to ensure cash is accurately accounted for in the back end and POS system.
  8. Developing and implementing policies and procedures to prevent theft at POS and inventory storage areas.
  9. Conducting remote CCTV audits, preparing reports on findings.
  10. Researching, suggesting, and implementing additional security measures.
  11. Assisting with other duties as required.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Business Management Certificate or Degree.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Valid Alberta Security license.
  • CannSell Cannabis License.
  • Experience in a cannabis environment (preferred).
  • At least 3 years of experience in retail loss prevention, security, or law enforcement.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Proven investigation skills.
  • Knowledge of retail operations and loss prevention strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of the criminal code.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software for reports and documentation.
