Job description

Experienced Canadian Nuclear Licensing Engineer (93-042525-01)

NEC has an immediate need for a senior licensing engineer to support the deployment of the BWRX-300 in Canada. The role involves working under the direction of GE Vernova New Power Plants and Products Licensing, with supervision from the GE Vernova Canadian Regulatory Affairs Manager. The engineer will assist in preparing and reviewing licensing documentation and regulatory submissions to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), and support interactions with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and CNSC staff. Additional support to engineering design activities for the BWRX-300 project will be required.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support licensing activities with OPG and CNSC, including preparation and review of technical and licensing presentations.
  • Coordinate meetings with OPG and CNSC as directed.
  • Prepare and review responses to CNSC RFIs and other licensing correspondence.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific, or related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience interacting with CNSC staff on nuclear licensing matters preferred.
  • Experience in preparing licensing submittals and facilitating CNSC reviews and approvals.
  • Knowledge of CNSC regulations, licensing processes, and safety analysis, with at least 5 years in deterministic licensing or safety analysis.

Desired Characteristics :

  • Experience with BWR designs and Small Modular Reactors preferred.
  • Ability to work remotely with occasional travel to offices in Markham, ON, Wilmington, NC, and other locations in support of licensing activities.
