NEC has an Immediate Need for the following:

Experienced Canadian Nuclear Licensing Engineer (93-042525-01)

NEC has an immediate need for a senior licensing engineer working under the direction of GE Vernova New Power Plants and Products Licensing with supervision by the GE Vernova Canadian Regulatory Affairs Manager to assist in the preparation and review of BWRX-300 licensing basis documentation and regulatory submittals to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), and to support GE Vernova New Power Plants and Products Licensing interactions with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Staff and CNSC Staff,in support of deployment of the BWRX-300 in Canada. Additional BWRX-300 Project Team support to Engineering for design activities will be required.

Required to have experience with deterministic safety analysis.

Licensing Support & Deliverables in support of the BWRX-300 licensing in Canada including but not limited to the following:

  • Support BWRX-300 licensing activities with OPG and CNSC with input from the BWRX-300 Project Teamfor deployment of the BWRX-300in Canada and provide supportto Engineering for assigned design activities.
  • Support preparation, review,and conduct of technical and licensing presentations to OPG and CNSC in assigned areas.
  • Coordinate and attendBWRX-300 meetings with the OPG and CNSC as directed.
  • Prepare and review responses to CNSC Requests for Information (RFIs), as well as other correspondence and licensing submittals from GE Vernova throughOPG to the CNSC, as directed.
  • Prepare and review responsesfor correspondence from the CNSC through OPG to GE Vernova as directed.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or other related technical fields.
  • Ten years or more interacting with CNSC Staff on behalfof nuclear power plant licenseapplicants and license holders preferred.
  • Experience in preparation of licensing submittals to the CNSC, and facilitation of CNSC reviewsand approvals in support of nuclear power plant or other nuclear facility license applications.
  • Experience in CNSC regulations and licensing processes, including Preliminary SafetyAnalysis Report preparation and validation, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), and CNSC license application decisions and approvals.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in deterministic safety analysis.

Additional Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience with BWR designsis highly desired.
  • Previous experience with Small ModularReactor licensing activities preferred.
  • Ability to primarily work remotely and meet deliverable schedules, with on-demand support of travel to GE Vernova SMR Canada office in Markham, ON, and to GE Vernova office in Wilmington, NC office and otherlocations including CNSC Headquarters or customer sites in Canadain support of BWRX-300 licensing activities.
