Job description

Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Supervisor, who reports to the Breast Imaging Program Manager, the radiology receptionist greets and checks in patients upon arrival to the Department of Radiology. The receptionist reviews patient schedules, updates appointment statuses, informs the section of patient arrival, and verifies patient demographic data and reason for visit. They actively communicate schedule disruptions to the radiology sections and patients, addressing patient needs while in the waiting room.

Responsibilities:
  1. Greet patients in a friendly, helpful manner embodying the I CARE standards.
  2. Enter and update exam information in hospital and department information systems (Epic).
  3. Utilize information devices and applications to facilitate patient throughput.
  4. Document patient fall risk by ensuring completion of the fall risk form.
  5. Assist with communication requests from outside providers, including answering and transferring phone calls.
  6. Maintain a clean work environment by coordinating with environmental services.
  7. Adapt to workflow changes as directed by supervisors or program managers.
  8. Communicate effectively with departmental and hospital staff.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure departmental efficiency and quality patient care.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Experience with hospital IT scheduling systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Adherence to all I C.A.R.E. standards.
  • Ability to multitask and think proactively.
