Job Description: Mortgage Business Development Specialist
Builds and manages relationships within a referral network to generate new mortgage business and increase BMO's market share in home financing. Actively identifies sales opportunities, referring clients to BMO colleagues as appropriate. Develops and executes marketing and sales programs to achieve business results, adhering to corporate policies, operating directives, and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively contacts referral sources and develops local or national partnerships to promote home financing solutions.
- Supports targeted marketing programs, promotions, and initiatives.
- Seeks cross-sell and up-sell opportunities to meet sales and profitability goals.
- Expands network by obtaining referrals from existing relationships.
- Participates in trade shows, conferences, and community events to enhance BMO's presence.
- Acts as a customer advocate during mortgage application and processing.
- Completes onboarding activities and delivers exceptional, responsive customer service.
- Guides customers through mortgage processes and partners with branch teams for smooth handoffs.
- Resolves issues promptly to meet customer expectations and ensures timely fund disbursement.
- Provides advice on banking products and refers clients to appropriate BMO partners.
- Stays informed about industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Addresses customer service issues, escalating complex matters as needed.
- Develops solutions aligned with business strategies and stakeholder needs.
- Supports strategic initiatives through collaboration and independent analysis.
- Liaises with teams and customers to ensure satisfactory application completion.
- Documents updates in internal systems and analyzes data for insights and reporting.
- Supports operational programs and executes routine tasks within service levels.
- Engages with referral networks to generate mortgage originations and maintains operational integrity.
- Thinks creatively, proposes solutions, and exercises judgment in problem-solving.
- Works independently with broader accountabilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, with a post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of mortgage lending, regulatory requirements, and the real estate market.
- Strong interpersonal, sales, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of personal banking, investments, and related financial services.
- In-depth collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, and influence skills.
