Job description

Based at the Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC) site, this position is for an Operations Technician in the Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) Plant. The Operations Technician will report directly to the PDH Shift Supervisor. The initial assignment for the PDH Operations Technician is to train and qualify in the Oleflex / Fractionation field position and progress to the Oleflex / Fractionation console position.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with the PDH Leadership and Operations Shift teams to execute operational targets, goals, and plans.
2. Monitor plant performance, maintain operating discipline, and take corrective actions as required.
3. Operate and maintain the plant safely, following HPC Manuals, Operating Procedures, Operating Instructions, Value Added Tasks, and Daily Rounds.
4. Participate in HSSE initiatives and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety at the facility.
5. Perform minor maintenance tasks as per Operating Procedures and Manuals.
6. Communicate effectively during shift handovers.
7. Prepare plant equipment for maintenance, including decontamination and energy isolation.
8. Be a member of the Emergency Response Team.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Power or Chemical Engineering Diploma preferred.
• Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate, with a preference for 2nd Class.
• 5+ years of plant operations experience in Petrochemical, Refinery, or Upgrader industries is preferred.
• Strong technical understanding of plant processes, equipment, and automation.
• Previous control room operator experience is advantageous.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.

Work Schedule: Full-time shift work (days/nights), 12-hour shifts. Long-term, the position will rotate between console and field posts.
