Job Description Summary

As part of the GE Vernova Rotating Machines Product Engineering team, you will play a significant role in serving our customers by providing technical solutions to support the design and manufacturing of large industrial synchronous and induction motors. GE has been producing large rotating electrical equipment for over 130 years, with motors up to 100,000hp. Our machines are used in critical applications such as marine, industrial, and power generation.

You will collaborate with internal engineering teams and external CAD design providers to develop technical solutions and designs for new rotating electrical equipment, retrofits, upgrades, and spares. The successful candidate will report to the Rotating Machines Peterborough Product Engineering Leader.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Define component design parameters based on engineering instructions, standards, automation, and reference designs.
• Perform layout and modeling (2D/3D) of components and assemblies.
• Prepare packages for external CAD providers, including drawings, markups, instructions, reference drawings, and CAD models.
• Manage creation and approval of drawings and bills of materials throughout the design cycle.
• Provide technical support to external design providers, vendors, and manufacturing teams.
• Assist in developing systematic project plans outlining design execution strategies.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce cycle time, and streamline design efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Technologist Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Technology.
• At least 5 years of experience in design, modeling, drawing creation, and bills of materials.

Desired Characteristics

• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and documentation.
• Proficiency in 3D and 2D design software, preferably Creo and AutoCAD.
• Experience with bills of materials and PLM systems like Teamcenter is an asset.
• Knowledge of large synchronous and induction machine components.
• Ability to develop clear technical instructions.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerances, and industry standards.
