A Dispatcher is responsible for communicating with drivers to resolve problems on route, handling incoming service orders, directing drivers, and resolving service issues. The role involves interacting with customers, customer service, sales, and operational staff. The dispatcher will use GFL proprietary software to enter ticket information and track productivity.

Key Responsibilities :

• Schedule services and address customer needs for service changes, ensuring completion according to policies.
• Dispatch calls based on driver locations and routes.
• Perform driver check-ins at day-end for accurate paperwork.
• Distribute, collect, and review route sheets for data accuracy.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve service issues.
• Handle additional tasks as assigned by the Dispatch Manager.
• Interact with customers, customer service, sales, and operations staff under the Dispatch Manager's guidance.
• Work with routing specialists to optimize routes.
• Field incoming customer calls / emails.
• Troubleshoot and resolve delivery and pickup issues proactively.
• Record and distribute driver information to relevant departments.
• Communicate breakdowns with maintenance personnel.
• Ensure professional communication via email, phone, and two-way devices.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies :

• High school diploma required; post-secondary education is an asset.
• 1-2 years of experience in transportation, dispatch, or customer service.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Industry knowledge is a plus.
• Fast and accurate typing skills.
• Ability to work extended hours, including occasional weekends.
• Experience with TRUX system preferred; willingness to learn is acceptable.
• Additional training in transportation, logistics, or customer service is a plus.
