Your Responsibilities :

We are looking for a Data Engineer with 5 years' experience that combines Data Engineering, Data Architecture and Data Management expertise. As a Data Engineer within our Data and AI practice, you’ll design and set up projects that bring together information from a variety of sources, to enable analysis and decision-making. You make sure that data is accessible and easy to use, so that it can be used for routine and ad-hoc analysis.

Skills and Attributes for Success :

  • Strong knowledge of Python, Spark, and database management systems (e.g., T-SQL, SQL, NoSQL).
  • Experience with data processing frameworks and tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Flink, or similar).
  • Database, storage, collection and aggregation models, techniques, and technologies – and how to apply them in business.
  • Ability to use technology to solve business problems using one or more Microsoft Analytics services for building data pipelines, data streams, and system integration.
  • Advanced knowledge in entity and relationship extraction from unstructured data.
  • Understanding of database table indexing, with emphasis on clustered column store tables.
  • Proficient in data handling, understanding, analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Data security : must be able to demonstrate an understanding of data security at rest and in transit.
  • Scale : deliver performance at scale, and accurately anticipate system enhancement needs.
  • Data integrity : data manipulation, error identification and handling, and modeling.
  • Cost Management : deliver performant solutions mindful of the consumption costs.

The Ideal candidate is :

  • Goal oriented and possesses strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicates and explains the plan, templates, approaches to his / her team and other teams so that he / she does not end up being a bottleneck.
  • Can communicate clearly in both languages (French and English) going technical when appropriate and is able to elevate the vocabulary for less technical folks such as clients, other team members, e.g., Project Manager.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams (French and English).

To qualify for the role, you must have :

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within a Data Engineering or a related role.
  • Proven ability to optimize and troubleshoot data engineering processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and manage relationships.
  • Highly collaborative, with high end consulting skills and the drive to solve multifaceted problems with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a self-starter that is motivated by ambiguity with the ability to indirectly influence others in a large matrix organization structure.
  • Experience in data visualization tools such as PowerBI is a plus.
  • Familiarity with different development methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile, XP, scrum).
  • Experience working in a high-paced, rapidly changing, and evolving environment using a hybrid model approach of both in-office and remote working arrangements.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement all D&A assets with proper monitoring.
  • Keep up to date with various modern D&A platform services and trends.

  • Experience in engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong consulting experience and background, including engaging directly with clients.
  • Team management on Advanced Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Big Data projects.
