As a Legal Counsel working in the Operational Support team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role in the future success of the business by providing strategic legal counsel in corporate and commercial law. Supporting large-scale building and infrastructure projects—ranging from several million dollars to over $1 billion—you will have the opportunity to advise on day-to-day activities and operations of the company (Pomerleau and its subsidiaries).

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate the action plan of the ethics and compliance program and its development;
  • Advise and serve as the primary resource for employees on issues related to ethics and compliance, laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines, providing opinions that facilitate their implementation within the company;
  • Manage and follow up on declarations of interest and the hospitality register for employees and the company;
  • Develop training content and tools for employees regarding ethics, compliance, personal information protection, governance, and anti-corruption to ensure stakeholder awareness;
  • Coordinate corporate compliance related to lobbying and follow up on requests from regulatory bodies (e.g., AMP, RBQ, CNSST, Lobbying);
  • Assess and establish control measures to prevent and identify risks and cases of non-compliance at both corporate and operational levels;
  • Update and communicate compliance and governance policies effectively;
  • Coordinate investigations and support human resources as needed;
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.

This role could be for you if you have

  • Membership in good standing with the Quebec Bar or another Canadian provincial bar, or relevant equivalent training;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience;
  • A passion for and knowledge of legislation related to ethics, integrity, and anti-corruption;
  • Knowledge of labor law and personal data protection;
  • Construction industry knowledge is an asset;
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team;
  • Strong business acumen and a high regard for confidentiality;
  • Excellent communication skills with a methodical, flexible, and dynamic approach.
