Join our dedicated Critical Incident Support team at TELUS Health, where your expertise will be pivotal in providing on-site counseling and consultation to organizations following traumatic worksite events. As an essential member of our network, you will assist clients in navigating the aftermath of incidents, delivering expert support and interventions to foster recovery and resilience. This role offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on individuals and organizations during their most critical moments.

The Impact You'll Make and What We'll Accomplish Together

Join us as an independent contractor, where your expertise will be essential in supporting your local community. Due to the nature of the service, you should be prepared to accept referrals on short notice. You will provide immediate support during unexpected workplace events such as accidents and employee deaths, and manage anticipated changes like organizational restructuring. Your role will involve offering timely assistance to frontline employees and managers through pre- and post-incident planning, briefings, and reporting. Together, we will promote community well-being by helping organizations maintain resilience and ensure continuity during critical moments.

Here’s How

  • Respond promptly to requests for on-site critical incident intervention services.
  • Provide comprehensive crisis management and post-traumatic interventions, including individual and group crisis interventions, debriefings, and corporate client consultations.
  • Perform a preliminary assessment of the workplace situation and offer coaching and support to managers.
  • Manage the first impression onsite while adapting to the workplace culture to ensure the support provided is clinically appropriate and representative of the client group.
  • Consult with the CI Supervisor and relevant stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Training :

  • Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Active membership with a professional college or relevant governing board.
  • Minimum five (5) years of post-master’s clinical experience.
  • Completion of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training or equivalent.
  • Professional Liability Insurance coverage.

Experience and Skills :

  • Required experience in conducting group debriefing and defusing support.
  • Strong interpersonal awareness and exceptional first impression skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of different work environments and organizational structures with experience in workplace crisis management.
  • Flexible schedule, with the ability to accept referrals with minimal notice.
  • Profound understanding of trauma, its symptoms, and the ability to offer psychoeducation and address related questions.
  • Proficiency in facilitating both group and one-on-one interactions.
  • Experience in supporting first responders.
  • Must be flexible and accessible, with the ability to periodically respond to requests at any time during weekdays and weekends.
