Position Summary:

The Health Officer Liaison acts as a vital communication bridge between health departments, government agencies, healthcare organizations, and the community. This role facilitates the coordination of public health initiatives, emergency responses, and interagency communications to ensure effective delivery of health programs and compliance with public health regulations.

While this position is fully remote, candidates residing in the Charleston metropolitan area are strongly preferred to support potential local collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between public health officers and external stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, clinics, emergency services, community organizations).
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing public health programs, policies, and emergency responses.
  • Facilitate timely communication and collaboration among local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Monitor and report on public health trends, issues, and program progress.
  • Support the development of public health communications, including advisories, press releases, and educational materials.
  • Help coordinate training sessions, workshops, and drills for emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain records, reports, and documentation related to public health initiatives and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support during public health emergencies.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and events representing the Health Officer or department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in public health, emergency management, or a liaison/coordination role.
  • Knowledge of public health systems, emergency response protocols, and community health programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data management systems.
  • Experience in crisis communication or interagency coordination is a plus.
  • Experience with R Studio and Python a plus
