Job description

Join us as a Senior Actuary, Pricing – and help shape the future of our business. Reporting to the Director, Pricing and Underwriting Canada, in this high-impact role, you’ll lead pricing strategy, influence key decisions, and collaborate across teams to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions. Your expertise will play a vital role in keeping us competitive and driving our continued success.

This position follows a hybrid schedule with two in-office days per week at our Canadian corporate head office: 700 Jamieson Parkway, Cambridge, Ontario, N3C 4N6.

What you will do

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead development and refinement of pricing models aligned with business goals and regulations.
  • Analyze market trends and recommend strategic pricing adjustments to enhance profitability and competitiveness.
  • Apply advanced actuarial techniques and predictive analytics to assess risk and model pricing scenarios.
  • Partner with data scientists to improve pricing accuracy through machine learning and innovative tools.
  • Present insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and assess the impact of evolving frameworks.
  • Mentor junior actuaries and lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and review pricing models regularly for accuracy and effectiveness.

Minimum qualifications

  • University Degree in Math, Statistics, or Actuarial Science.
  • ASA or ACAS designation, or passing start/foundation exams toward ASA or ACAS, with commitment to continue to FSA/FCIA or FCAS.
  • 5+ years in pricing-focused actuarial roles, ideally in insurance or reinsurance.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, VBA, SQL; experience with Emblem, Radar, Python, and other actuarial tools.
  • Strong statistical and predictive modeling skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Fluent in English, with leadership experience mentoring junior team members.
  • Strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in travel insurance pricing.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies like AI and machine learning.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
