Position Overview :

The Privacy Officer is accountable for overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the privacy framework at Dilico Anishinabek Family Care. This includes managing policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with Ontario’s privacy and access-to-information legislation, including the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA), and related statutes.

The Privacy Officer is responsible for ensuring consistent privacy and access-to-information practices across the organization. This involves leading policy development, compliance audits, risk assessments, incident management, training programs, and managing access to information requests. The role also includes providing consultation to departments and preparing reports for senior leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements :

• A Bachelor’s degree in law, health information management, privacy law, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
• Certification as a Privacy Professional is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in privacy management, freedom of information compliance, or related roles, preferably within healthcare, mental health, and child welfare sectors in Ontario.
• Ability to work flexible hours as required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
• Must be able to travel regularly.
• Must complete a criminal records check satisfactory to Dilico.
