Position Overview

Calian is seeking an Intermediate Linux Software Engineer to assist our client with the facilitation of their project.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize software components within a Linux-based environment
  • Configure and maintain HTTP services and backend interfaces using CGI and API methodologies for secure communication between web interfaces and Linux-based services
  • Write and maintain software applications in C/C++ and Java to support system integration, control, and data processing across high-frequency radio components
  • Design, query, and manipulate relational databases, and develop front-end tools and interfaces for displaying and managing operational radio system data
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of embedded software for radio communications hardware and associated control systems
  • Perform software troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning on Linux-based radio system components in development, simulation, and live operational environments
  • Document software designs, interface specifications, configuration procedures, and testing protocols to support project delivery and future sustainment

Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge and experience working and developing a Linux environment
  • Must have web development skills: HTML, CSS, Java Script, http-service configuration, CGI, API methodology
  • Must have knowledge and experience in C/C++, Java programming languages
  • Must have familiarity with relational data bases (design and data manipulation) SQL, development of front-end UI for data bases
  • Must have a Security Clearance at the Secret level

Additional Requirements

  • Resource can be remote and have the capability to travel to Ottawa
  • Task based where work will be required on an as-and-when circumstance
  • Should be eligible to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level
