Position Status : Permanent Full-Time Available : Immediately Description of the Position : SickKids Foundation is seeking a corporate & commercial lawyer to support the Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer by providing general legal advice, consultation and opinions to all levels of the Foundation. With a service-delivery approach, this role will offer legal expertise on a variety of Foundation activities, including drafting and negotiating agreements, supporting risk management initiatives, ensuring privacy compliance, responding to intellectual property inquiries, providing employment law advice, assisting with policy development, and other related duties as assigned Required Skills You will :

• Draft and negotiate agreements in all areas, including supplier agreements, requests for proposals, master services agreements, statement of work, IT agreements, licensing agreements, consulting agreements, gift agreements, sponsorship agreements and related matters;
• Respond promptly to a wide variety of legal requests from internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate practical legal advice;
• Support the Foundation with privacy and confidentiality issues;
• Assist the Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer with risk management activities;
• Assist the Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer with development of policies and procedures for the Foundation;
• Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of SickKids Foundation legal processes, templates and repositories of legal resources, embracing the use of technology in the delivery of legal services;
• Conduct legal research as needed;
• Help ensure compliance with laws, regulations and SickKids Foundation policies; and
• Various other duties as assigned.

Qualifications : While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role :

• LL.B / J.D. Degree and minimum 7 years’ experience in corporate / commercial law with a particular focus on drafting of agreements;
• Licensed to practice in Ontario and in good standing;
• Experience in Charity Law considered an asset (not a requirement);
• Strong business acumen;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal);
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities while paying attention to detail;
• Ability to influence and negotiate effectively, ability to be a persuasive advocate;
• Proactive, self-motivated, mission-driven attitude and approach; and
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and complex concepts, and working independently, without much direction, if necessary.

Total Compensation Package : Hiring Salary Range : $131,452 – $164,315; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $188,963.
