Qualifications

  • 2-8 years of technical mechanical experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Experience in Aquatic and Recreation Centre design is an asset.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of building codes and standards.

Intermediate Designer

Position Details

We are looking for an Intermediate Designer to join our Calgary office. In this role, you will be working in a collaborative team on mechanical design projects from schematic design through to construction. You should be an experienced designer with an excellent track record and considerable technical knowledge. Creative thinking and a proactive attitude, along with strong communication, organizational and report writing skills, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building control systems.
  • System design calculations and equipment selections.
  • Preparation of contract drawings and documentation.
  • Project coordination with team designers and external design professionals
  • Comply with AME Quality management standards and processes.

Key Skills

  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, IESve, HAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical developments, building codes and standards.
  • Clear and concise communication, both orally and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • P.Eng. or Professional Technologist designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 2-8 years of technical mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) experience.
  • Aquatic and Recreation Centre design experience would be an asset.
  • Sustainable design certification (LEED, Certified Passive House Designer, etc.) or experience would be an asset.
