Overview :

The Controller will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the company by managing accounting and financial operations. This involves overseeing daily financial activities, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support financial objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Financial Reporting and Analysis :

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Conduct financial and variance analysis, providing insights to support senior management decision-making.
• Assist in developing financial reports and dashboards to monitor KPIs.

Accounting Operations :

• Supervise and review the work of the accounting team, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Ensure adherence to accounting principles, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes for accuracy and completeness.
• Taxation experience in Canada is required; US taxation experience is a plus.

Financial Controls and Compliance :

• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and reporting standards.
• Assist with external audits, providing documentation and addressing inquiries.

Budgeting and Forecasting :

• Support the annual budgeting process.
• Develop financial forecasts and monitor performance, recommending adjustments as needed.

Process Improvement :

• Identify opportunities for efficiency within the finance department.
• Participate in implementing new financial systems or tools.

Cross-Functional Collaboration :

• Work with procurement, operations, sales, and external stakeholders to align on financial goals and reporting.

Training and Development :

• Mentor finance team members.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulations, sharing insights with the team.

Additional responsibilities and projects will be assigned as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and lead by example.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA preferred.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles.
• Manufacturing experience (minimum 2 years) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
• Proficiency in financial software including QuickBooks, ERP, and Excel.
