We are seeking a full-time Controller with 5+ years of residential and commercial development/construction accounting experience. The responsibilities include preparing financial statements, monthly project draws and cash flows, GL, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and other analyses.

This is a remote position with on-site availability as needed, offering a competitive compensation package with benefits.

Reporting to the General Manager and Director of Operations, the role will be responsible for:

  1. Preparing financial analysis and reports to support senior leaders' decision-making.
  2. Monitoring AP/AR/GL & Bank on a continuous basis.
  3. Troubleshooting payables & receivables issues at the recording or financial level.
  4. Approving invoices related to commissions and financing costs, and ensuring invoicing and budgets are tracked.
  5. Coordinating accounting, budgeting, tax, and other financial operations to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  6. Reporting to the General Manager and Director of Operations on all activities related to control and reporting for development processes, interfacing with internal divisions and partners' senior management.
  7. Implementing internal controls, overseeing accounting functions, conducting performance reviews, defining job descriptions and SOPs, and ensuring cross-training.
  8. Assisting in preparing budgets, cash flows, and financial reports for development projects.
  9. Developing project projections, cash flows, and proformas.
  10. Performing additional assignments as directed by senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. A four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial/residential development or construction.
  3. Strong knowledge of accounting practices related to real estate development, property management, cash flow forecasting, financial statements, and taxes.
  4. Leadership and problem-solving skills.
  5. Proven ability to manage teams and organizational planning.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  8. Multitasking skills in an accurate and timely manner.
  9. Ability to work independently.
  10. Proficiency with computer systems and software in construction and development industries.
  11. Extensive experience with Excel and financial software.
