Salary: $33.26/hour (2024 Rates)

Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

This is manual work involving physical effort and agility in semi-skilled and unskilled construction and maintenance tasks. The work is distinguished from Labourer 1 by the more complex and semi-skilled tasks performed. Responsibilities include:

• Performing a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and construction of roads, pavements, and street cleaning.
• Acting as lead hand on road projects such as installing culverts, regrading, raking premix on extensive repair jobs, repairing sidewalks and boulevards.
• Using motorized compacting machines in backfilling and grading work, and independently performing more complex tasks.
• Assisting in pipelaying, timbering work, breaking blacktop and concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools.
• Setting forms, mixing and tamping concrete, assisting in concrete finishing for manholes.
• Performing maintenance and construction work on fences and other related tasks.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation and experience in construction and maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in construction and maintenance. Ability to perform semi-skilled manual tasks with some independent judgment, understand and carry out instructions, and physical capability for outdoor heavy manual work. A valid Driver’s License for British Columbia is required.
