Job summary

Blanche River Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician for a permanent full-time position in Kirkland Lake. The role involves ensuring accurate drug distribution and collaborating with healthcare professionals to meet patient needs. Qualifications

Job Summary

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, pharmacy technicians are responsible and accountable for the technical aspects of accurate, safe, effective and efficient drug distribution. Pharmacy technicians participate in meeting the patient’s health and medication related needs through collaboration with the patient, the pharmacists and other health care professionals to achieve the patient’s health goals. Pharmacy technicians are an integral part of the pharmacy team in the medication distribution component of pharmacy services, allowing the pharmacists to be involved with direct patient care.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Technician diploma from an accredited college is required.
  • Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • The successful incumbent must be willing to work across both sites on a regularly basis
  • Knowledge of drugs / medications, mathematics, typing, pharmacy techniques, accounting principles, book keeping, medical and biological terminology is required.
  • Knowledge of hospital operation would be beneficial.
  • Computer skills are a necessity.
  • Knowledge of Meditech Expanse is an asset.
  • Ability to focus mentally is a requirement as patient safety is of utmost priority.
  • Experience with a hospital and / or pharmacy is an asset.
  • It is understood that the pharmacy technician requires on-the-job training. The length of training will depend on the function and the experience of the individual.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
  • Bilingualism in both official languages an asset
