Job Opportunity: Middle and Secondary Sciences / Mathematics Teacher

Central Okanagan Public Schools acknowledges its location within the unceded, Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples. The district serves over 25,000 students across 50 school sites, including elementary, middle, secondary, learning centres, and online schools, in communities such as Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. We invite applications from dedicated educators for full and part-time temporary contracts, including teachers on call. Candidates should be prepared to assume various teaching responsibilities aligned with their qualifications, experience, and interests.

Qualifications
  • Possess a British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate.
  • Have training and/or experience teaching Math and Science.
Additional Requirements
  • Be willing to collaborate with colleagues within a team environment and guide students in developing core competencies aligned with BC's redesigned curriculum.
  • Participate in implementing the school-level Collaborative Model of Support and the district's Strategic Plan.
  • Utilize technology (e.g., computers, SmartBoards, voicemail, email, websites, MyEd BC) for planning, communication, and instruction.
  • Experience in differentiating instruction and providing inclusive learning opportunities that meet diverse student needs.
  • Training or experience in Quality Assessment practices, including differentiated instruction, criterion-referenced grading, and assessment for, as, and of learning.
  • A strong interest in innovation and inquiry-based teaching.
Preferences
  • At least two years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience in inquiry-based and place-conscious approaches that empower students to take charge of their learning.
  • Ability to facilitate student growth through clear learning targets, co-constructed success criteria, and opportunities for self-assessment and reflection.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, based on experience and qualifications, in accordance with the collective agreement.
