Job Description:

Reporting to the Business Manager, Information Technology Services, the Senior Financial Analyst is accountable for contributing to the effectiveness of the financial management and financial services of the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department through supporting the Business Manager, Chief Digital Officer and all ITS Managers. The incumbent builds collaborative relationships with ITS Managers to assist with controlling cost centre expenditures to ensure costs are aligned to approved budgets and provides support in the preparation, maintenance, analysis and interpretation of all financial information relating to ITS: proforma budget, operating budget, Strategic Investment Priorities (SIP), contingencies, equipment, Software/Hardware maintenance agreements and service contracts.

The incumbent supports college-wide processes and decision making by developing and providing reports that are tailored and customized for ITS; developing, preparing, analysing, monitoring, interpreting, and reporting.

The incumbent monitors compliance with internal financial controls and operational procedures within the department and ensures that budgeted and operational reconciliations and reports are prepared to meet the needs identified by management. It is essential that this position ensures accuracy, completeness, and reliability of financial information both internally and externally. Financial sustainability can be adversely affected if these outcomes are not met. Given the sensitivity of information the incumbent will have access to, confidentiality is of utmost importance.

The incumbent provides direction and guidance to the Finance and Support Officers and ITS Managers with respect to accounting entries, budget preparation, reporting and analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) year diploma/degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Accounts (or equivalent) ;

  • Professional accounting designation or working toward obtainment of designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience is required in a budgetary/finance-related position, including full-cycle accounting;

  • Experience with budget and HR systems (enterprise resource planning ERP systems).

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel) with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills, creating and updating complex, formula-driven spreadsheets including the creation of graphs, charts, and pivot tables.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with College employees of all levels and outside clients.

  • Lead small teams in an unionized environment.
