Job Description

This position reports directly to Senior Shift Manager on shift as well as the Production Manager. The job incumbent will directly supervise unionized employees. This position requires interaction with all departments within Cavendish Farms.

Work Address: Cavendish Farms Lethbridge, 4620 43rd St N, Lethbridge, AB T1H 6P3

Terms of Employment: This is a permanent salaried full-time shift work position, 42 hrs/week.

Annual Salary: $73,650 to $78,000

Responsibilities

  • Utilize equipment, supplies, and personnel to maximize productivity.
  • Meet production output targets including yields and volume.
  • Identify productivity improvements.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to employees to ensure that standard operating procedures are understood and followed.
  • Document and maintain accurate records with respect to employee performance, product quality, daily reconciliation, health and safety, and attendance.
  • Develop, lead, and coach employees through effective training and recognition.
  • Foster and maintain a positive labor relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, and employee concerns are managed in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
  • Ensure compliance to Government regulations and Company specifications for HACCP, Sanitation, and Safety.
  • Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Food Safety responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Is proactive and takes initiative.
  • The flexibility to adapt to a 24-hour, 7-day operation schedule – 12 hours rotating day and night shift including alternate weekends.
  • Ability to work 36-48 hours a week.
  • Flexibility to cover overtime shifts.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMPs, SQF, etc.)
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards system.
  • Post Secondary Education
  • 1 year or more of production experience in a food processing industry.
  • Experience in a potato manufacturing industry is required.
  • 1 year or more of related supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Managing unionized workforce experience is required.
