Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) has 28 inpatient beds, 14 Emergency beds plus a trauma room, in addition to a 4-bed ICU and obstetrics unit. CMH is a very close-knit team of multi-disciplinary professionals, and we pride ourselves on supporting one another in the Lab and across the facility.
The fast pace, acuity, and unique needs of every patient offer opportunities to learn and develop your skill set. CMH is a diverse care environment that is undergoing expansion, with opportunities in the Lab and other departments as the site and community grow. You will be part of the larger IH network, with access to colleagues, resources, employee services, education, and training.
Medical Laboratory Assistants perform duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine laboratory tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.
This is a casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary; shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions.
