Merit Services is seeking a Database Administrator to join our client’s dynamic team in Peterborough. As a Database Administrator, your main tasks will involve maintaining the accuracy and reliability of data, implementing effective database solutions, and offering technical assistance to end users. RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Design, execute, and uphold the organization’s databases to secure data integrity, accessibility, and efficiency.
2. Monitor database performance, identify and resolve issues to improve query execution and system efficiency.
3. Implement and maintain backup strategies, disaster recovery, and data archiving to ensure information safety and uninterrupted operations.
4. Ensure database security through user access management, encryption, and data privacy policies.
5. Collaborate with developers and IT teams to improve database design and data workflows.
6. Address and resolve database problems promptly to minimize downtime and prevent data loss.
7. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data models, schemas, and technical specifications.
8. Stay updated on industry developments and new technologies, suggesting innovative solutions to enhance performance and scalability.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in Database Administration or a similar role, involving database management and enhancement.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, data modeling, performance tuning, and backup/restoration techniques.
• Experience with database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server, including their tools.
• Knowledge of database security protocols and compliance standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills for analyzing and resolving complex database issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
