Job description

The Raw Procurement Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting with all aspects of raw procurement (potato) and delivery processes at Cavendish Farms. The role ensures that processes support a consistent supply of high-quality raw materials to meet customer requirements in an environmentally and economically sustainable manner.

This position reports to the Raw Procurement Manager and involves interaction with Alberta potato growers, production staff, four direct reports, Potato Growers of Alberta, provincial and federal agriculture services, growers outside Alberta, private agronomists, agriculture chemical sales staff, and both international and domestic sales personnel.

Responsibilities

• Manage grower contracts and conduct visits to monitor raw quality and volume (1 day per week).
• Identify and implement operational cost-saving opportunities through better raw material value; monitor raw delivery wait times to improve efficiency for growers and the plant.
• Provide feedback to growers regarding quality and areas for improvement.
• Develop short and mid-term site strategies and execution plans in collaboration with the plant leadership team to meet demand.
• Monitor raw materials based on company contracts and quality needs; review the grower database for accuracy of contracts, payment prices, and deductions.
• Act as a liaison between the company and the grower organization.
• Assist in negotiating processing contracts.
