The County of Riverside's Temporary Assignment Program seeks qualified candidates to fill future vacancies for the Department of Public Social Services, Children Services Division (Harmony Haven) in Beaumont, California.

Under general supervision, provides direct care for children and youth ages birth to 17 years in protective custody and awaiting placement in a residential setting at Harmony Haven Children and Youth Center. Incumbents perform routine duties involved with supervision and care of children and youth, including observing and documenting their behavior, development, and needs, instructing them on essential life skills, and supporting their daily needs.

The department desires candidates with professional experience working with children.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Incumbents must be comfortable working on uneven terrain and near wild animals such as snakes, bobcats, raccoons, etc. Also, consider these conditions when working evenings or overnight.

**IMPORTANT! All applicants must meet the age requirement of at least 21 years as per California Department of Social Services standards. Applicants under 21 are not eligible for positions at Harmony Haven but may qualify for other divisions.

• -Monday-Friday, Graveyard 10:30 pm - 7:30 am
• -Monday-Friday, Swing 2:00 pm - 11:00 pm
• -Friday-Sunday, Night shift 7:00 pm - 8:00 am
• -Friday-Sunday, Day shift 7:00 am - 8:00 pm

• Assist children with meals, bathing, hygiene, and daily routines.
• Supervise and account for children and youth.
• Develop and participate in recreational and social activities.
• Implement policies for positive behavior management and socialization.
• Observe, document behavior, and prepare reports.
• Communicate with staff regarding children’s needs.
• Perform light housekeeping duties.
• Provide reassurance and guidance to distressed children.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies.
• Participate in de-escalation techniques.

Qualifications options:

1. Six months as a Community or Social Services Assistant in Riverside County.
2. One year of direct care experience in social services, healthcare, mental health, or related fields.
3. Completion of 6 semester or 9 quarter units in relevant coursework from an accredited college.

Knowledge and skills required: Knowledge of public social programs, behavioral patterns of children, cultural attitudes, and basic principles of social work. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, evaluate needs, and implement social service plans.
