Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited is seeking an Arborist Assistant Driver to transport crews and equipment to job sites and support on-site pruning and removal work. The role requires a valid provincial license (AZ/DZ preferred), a clean driving record, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Arborist certification or willingness to work toward.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.
• Understanding and implementation of the process of safely ascending tree canopies at all heights.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Team player with willingness to learn and progress.

Responsibilities

• Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to job sites.
• Perform and log daily pre and post trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck inside and out.
• Operate as an active crew member with ground crew and foreperson.
• Perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
• Assist with installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection.
• Removal of hazardous trees.
• Operate tools including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
• Assist with job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Position Overview

As a driver with Davey Tree you will be responsible for ensuring the crew and equipment arrive at the job site safely and on time. Once at site you will join the rest of the crew as an Arborist Assistant; providing your in-depth knowledge and skills to ensure the job gets done right and on time.

Job Duties

• Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to various job sites as required.
• Perform and log daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck, keeping interior and exterior of vehicle free of debris.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.

Including but not limited to:

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Removal of hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Arborist certification or willingness to work towards.

Additional Information

• Full time. Year-round employment.
