Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS) on Vancouver Island, Nanaimo, is seeking a Substitute LINC Instructor to deliver English language instruction to adults new to Canada. You will design learner-centered lessons aligned with CLB and PBLA, fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Join a team-focused setting that uses in-person and hybrid delivery models, including Zoom and Avenue, to support newcomer integration across communities in Nanaimo and beyond.

Qualifications

• TESL certificate or degree in education/linguistics or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching adult ESL (online or in person).
• Experience using client databases and digital tools (Office 365, Zoom, Teams).
• CLB- Boot Camp Certification before start date.
• Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check on file.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver level-appropriate ESL lessons aligned with CLB standards.
• Provide regular feedback and assist learners in setting goals.
• Create inclusive, learner-centred classes for diverse adults.
• Deliver instruction using in-person and hybrid formats (Zoom, Avenue).
• Incorporate digital tools to enhance language learning and engagement.
• Maintain attendance and learner progress records per requirements.
• Collaborate with PBLA Head Instructor to align with PBLA standards.
• Assist with lesson planning and program development as directed.
