Job summary

Miller Waste Systems Inc. in Pickering, Ontario is hiring a DZ Driver/Picker for permanent full-time work. Immediate start with a 6:00–6:30am start window and a Tuesday–Friday or Monday–Friday schedule. Compens ation is $27.30–$29.46 per hour, with Boots/Uniforms and health benefits provided.

You will support residential waste collection, ensure timely service, and interact with residents in a courteous manner while complying with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid DZ Driver's Licence is required.
• Clean Driver's Abstract & CVOR Abstract required.
• Must be a team player with safe working habits.
• Physically fit lifestyle is beneficial.
• Flexibility with work schedule is necessary as start/end times may vary.

Responsibilities

• Operate residential waste collection and transport for assigned routes.
• Perform Yard Waste, Blue Box/Green Bin and Garbage collection as needed.
• Provide reliable customer service while ensuring proper disposal of waste streams.
• Adhere to collection/delivery schedules and route regulations.
• Follow company, MTO, MOE policies and by-laws for safety and compliance.
• Interact professionally with residents and coworkers at all times.
• Assist with safe loading/unloading of waste into trucks (up to 50 lbs).
• Achieve high daily stop counts while maintaining safety standards.

Hours: Tuesday to Friday or Monday to Friday, 6:00am or 6:30am start

The DZ Driver/Picker at Miller Waste Systems is responsible for the safe, efficient collection and transport of residential waste streams. This role supports public health by ensuring timely service, adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and respectful interaction with the community.

• Be responsible for various waste stream Residential Collections.


• This may include Yard Waste Collection, Blue Box and/or Green Bin Collection and Residential Garbage Collection.


• Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service as the proper disposal of the waste streams are vital to the health and well-being of the residents of the community that you are servicing.


• Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule to ensure all collected various waste streams are to be delivered to local Transfer Stations, Compost Facilities or Landfill Sites in an efficient and appropriate manner.


• Follow all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, the MTO, Ministry of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality in which you are working. Failure to adhere to safety policies and procedures may lead to property damage, injury, or loss of life.


• Work with employees, management, resident and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner at all times.


• All waste receptacles that are emptied into the collection vehicle must be placed back on the resident’s property, flipped upside down at the curb, in the same place that they were removed from.


• Lift and load garbage bags or cans weighing up to 50 lbs. from the ground into the hopper of a 2-person truck or into a side loader of a 1-person truck.


• Make in excess of 800 residential stops per day.

• Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act.


• Successful candidates must have a valid DZ Driver's Licence.


• Clean Driver's Abstract & CVOR Abstract.


• Must be a team player, and with safe working habits.
