Job summary

Miller Waste Systems Inc. is seeking a DZ Driver/Picker in Windsor, Ontario, for permanent full-time work starting at 5:30am Tuesday to Friday.

The role involves collecting residential waste, yard waste, and recycling, while complying with municipal and environmental rules and maintaining high safety and customer service standards. You will drive a DPZ vehicle, complete a high volume of stops, and contribute to community waste management efforts.

Qualifications

• DZ driver's licence with a safe driving record.
• Safety-first attitude with demonstrated safe working habits.
• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the assigned vehicle to collect waste streams and deliver to the depot.
• Provide reliable customer service and proper disposal of waste streams.
• Adhere to collection and delivery schedule following MWSi policies and regulations.
• Work collaboratively with coworkers, management, residents and the public.
• Ensure receptacles are returned, flipped up and placed in the same location.
• Complete 800+ residential stops per day safely.
• Support the contract's success by being a team player.
• Participate in other projects and provide constructive feedback.

Summary

The DZ Driver/Picker at Miller Waste Systems plays a key role in the safe and efficient collection of residential waste, including yard waste, recycling, and garbage. This position requires adherence to municipal and environmental regulations while delivering dependable service to the community. Drivers are expected to maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service, ensuring proper waste disposal and respectful interactions with residents.

Responsibilities

As a DZ Driver/Picker your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Safely operating the assigned commercial vehicle to collect various waste streams (yard waste, green bins and residential garbage) in a safe and efficient manner, and delivering the material to the appropriate depot (transfer station, landfill, compost facility etc.)
• Providing customers with reliable and high-quality customer service. Proper disposal of the waste streams is vital to the health and well-being of the residents of the community.
• Adhering to the collection and delivery schedule while following all relevant MWSi policies and procedures as well as legislation and regulations set out by the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality in which you are working in.
• Working collaboratively with fellow employees, management, resident and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner at all times.
• Ensuring all waste receptacles that are emptied into the collection vehicle and placed back on the resident’s property, flipped upside down at the curb, in the same place that they were removed from.
• Completing in excess of eight hundred (800) residential stops per day and doing so safely.
• Supporting the success and performance of the contract as a whole by being a team player.
• Participate in other projects and provide constructive feedback as required.

What You Should Have

• A DZ driver's licence with a safe driving record.
• A safety-first attitude with demonstrated safe working habits.
• An understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and your responsibilities as an employee within it.
• Flexibility with scheduling, as early starts, delayed finishes and on rare occasions, weekend work will be required.
• The ability to safely lift 50 pounds repeatedly, as this can be the weight of the material.
