Job Title: Dumpling Prep (Dumpling Trainee)

Location: 1132 Alberni St, Vancouver, BC V6E 1A5

Compensation: $19.20-$21.60 CAD per hour + Tips

The base salary or hourly wage range for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. Range is not inclusive of potential bonus or benefits. Your recruiter can share more information about the salary range and other factors during the hiring process.

About the Role:

A Dumpling Trainee is tasked with preparing, assembling, folding, and steaming dumplings for guests. They operate in a show kitchen, requiring them to maintain a tidy and professional appearance.

Training Expectations:

Your journey at Din Tai Fung will begin as a Dumpling Trainee. Our hands-on dumpling training program is designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge for success. Upon completing the program, graduates will transition into the Dumpling Prep role with a competitive hourly wage increase. You can learn more about this program during your interview.

Training Schedule:
  • Training Days: Monday to Friday
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Shifts:
    • AM Shift: 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
    • PM Shift: 3:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Working Schedule:
  • Number of Days: Must be available for 5 shifts per week
  • Weekend Availability: Required
  • Shifts: Day or Evening shifts

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
  • Prepare, measure, and cut dough
  • Roll dumpling/bun skins
  • Stuff, close, and arrange dumplings/buns in a steamer
  • Add meat and allergen identifiers
  • Steam dumplings/buns
  • Maintain a clean workspace and dumpling room
  • Label items according to regulations and procedures
  • Attend monthly staff and dumpling meetings
Supporting Functions:
  • Keep all kitchen areas clean and sanitized
  • Organize items in walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Lift/move boxes, bags, chairs, and tables (up to 50 pounds)
  • Assist with deep cleaning of the kitchen
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, including recipes and SOPs
Job Requirements:
  • Friendly, energetic, motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, team environment
  • No dumpling experience required
  • Experience with dough preparation (pastry, pizza, etc.) is a plus
  • Open availability
  • Eager to learn and enjoy challenges
  • Ability to stand for long periods
