Job summary

Job Bank in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a skilled plasterer for permanent, full-time work starting as soon as possible. The role requires reading blueprints, applying plaster, and finishing surfaces to high standards.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, 7 months to less than 1 year of plastering or related experience, and the ability to work at heights in commercial, institutional, and residential settings. On-site work only.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 7 months to less than 1 year plastering experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints.
• Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster.
• Clean and prepare surfaces.
• Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners.
• Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife.
• Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices and trim.
• Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry.
• Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings.
• Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces.
• Prepare wall and ceiling layouts.
• Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages.
