Qualifications

Tasks and Responsibilities:

As a Dry Utilities Superintendent, you will oversee utility construction projects from start to finish. You’ll collaborate with various teams to ensure all aspects of dry utilities, such as electrical, telecommunications, and gas services, are properly installed and meet project standards. You’ll be the leader on-site who ensures compliance, maintains quality control, and promotes a safe working environment while keeping schedules and budgets on track.

You will lead by example and work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field staff to ensure that construction standards are met and work progresses smoothly. Your leadership will make a difference in the timely and successful completion of our utility projects.

  • Ensuring that all utility equipment and installations are continuously monitored for safety and functionality.
  • Carrying out thorough inspections and site checks to maintain high-quality standards throughout the project.
  • Verifying that all construction work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company guidelines.
  • Enforcing legal regulations and safety procedures to protect the health and well-being of the team.
  • Proactively identifying faults or malfunctions in utility meters and coordinate the necessary corrections.
  • Completing cost allocation for all Amico employees on site via HCSS software
  • Assisting with scheduling and coordination of suppliers and sub-trades
  • Assisting with scheduling and coordination of crews to sites
  • Completing and maintaining daily journals/site records
  • Applying strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe
  • Understanding Surveying & Site Layouts, Grades, etc.
  • Inventory and monitoring of tools and equipment on site for cost control
  • Documentation and the preparation of additional work documents for submission to client

Required Skills and Knowledge:

We are looking for a committed and skilled professional who takes pride in doing quality work. You are experienced in managing construction projects and familiar with the requirements of dry utilities. You understand the importance of compliance and safety and possess strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Post-Secondary school education in an Engineering/Construction Management discipline is required.
  • You know how to verify that construction activities align with all compliance and building standards.
  • You can confidently conduct inspections to identify risks or areas for improvement.
  • You are well-versed in legal regulations and can ensure all operations meet them.
  • Individual must have excellent knowledge of contracts, industry practices and codes
  • Must possess strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Problem solving skills and troubleshooting knowledge
  • Must be proficient in the English language
  • Previous HCSS software experience is preferred
  • Previous scheduling experience is preferred
  • Ability to manage and facilitate numerous projects
  • Self-motivated, self-dedicated, and result oriented
