Job description

Reliable data starts in the field. As a Drone Operator at Ctrl you are the front line of our RaaS missions — flying inspection, mapping, and surveillance sorties for energy, infrastructure, and public-safety clients across Canada.

You'll operate both hand-flown platforms and AirBase drone-in-a-box systems, executing mission profiles with precision and pushing clean, complete datasets into our processing pipeline the same day they're captured.

Note: This role is field-forward. Expect regular travel to client sites, remote corridors, and northern deployments.

What You'll Do
  • Plan and execute drone missions: orthomosaics, LiDAR, thermal, inspection orbits, and corridor patrols.
  • Operate and maintain DJI and Skydio platforms, docks, batteries, and sensor payloads.
  • Run pre-flight risk assessments, airspace checks, and JSEA/tailboard procedures on every job.
  • Upload, tag, and QA field data into Asset Core so processing starts the same day.
  • Coordinate with clients on site access, safety briefings, and deliverable expectations.
  • Support AirBase node installs and remote-operations handoffs.
What You'll Bring
  • Valid RPAS Advanced Operations certificate (Transport Canada) with a clean flight record.
  • 2+ years commercial drone operations — inspection, survey, or public safety preferred.
  • Comfort flying in demanding conditions: wind, cold, confined sites, and BVLOS-adjacent workflows.
  • Working knowledge of photogrammetry capture standards (GSD, overlap, control).
  • Clean driver's licence and willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Eligibility for Canadian security clearance an asset.
Why Join Us

We keep the team small and the stakes high. At Ctrl, you'll:

  • Work on systems that fly, drive, and dock in the real world — not demos. Our platforms run missions for energy, government, and security operators today.
  • Own outcomes end to end. Small team, short chain of command, and direct access to the people making the calls.
  • See your work in the field within weeks, not quarters. We build, deploy, and learn on real sites in real conditions.
  • Grow with the deployed fleet — as the network of docks, sensors, and missions scales, so does your scope.
  • Competitive salary with equity participation
  • Health and dental coverage
  • Field kit, certifications, and training on us
  • Performance-based equity top-ups as the company grows
