Job summary

Waste Connections of Canada, Inc. in the Metro Vancouver area is seeking a physically capable laborer for early-morning waste collection on designated routes. You will assist with loading waste, support the truck driver, and follow route instructions to service all stops efficiently.

The role requires stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, operate in all weather, and strong teamwork. Pre-employment checks are required, with competitive hourly pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Comfortable with repetitive motion and varying weather conditions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Previous experience in waste collection or manual labor is an asset.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements (e.g., physical test, background check).

Responsibilities

• Assist with the collection of solid waste by loading garbage, recycling, and yard waste into the truck.
• Assist the garbage truck driver with backing and other maneuvers.
• Step on and off the truck repeatedly throughout the day in a safe manner.
• Follow route sheets to ensure all stops are serviced.
• Maintain cleanliness around collection areas and pick up spills.
• Perform basic safety checks and report issues to the driver or supervisor.
• Interacting professionally with customers when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the driver or supervisor.

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday (5am start)

Pay: $27/hour

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the collection of solid waste by manually loading garbage, recycling, and yard waste into the truck on designated routes.
• Assisting the garbage truck driver with backing and other maneuvers
• Stepping on and off the garbage truck repeatedly throughout the day in a safe and efficient manner.
• Following route sheets and instructions from the driver or dispatcher to ensure all stops are serviced.
• Maintaining cleanliness around collection and dumping areas by picking up any spilled waste.
• Performing basic safety checks on equipment and reporting any issues to the driver or supervisor.
• Interacting professionally and courteously with customers when necessary.
• Performing other related duties as assigned by the driver or supervisor.
