Job summary

MEDA Engineering & Technical Services is seeking an experienced Design Release Engineer to support an automotive client. The role involves design, development, and validation of transmissions and driveline components with cross-functional teams.

You will coordinate design release activities, perform root cause analysis, and mentor junior engineers. The position is hybrid (1-2 days in office) with travel to the USA required at start. Ontario-based travelers welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of technical/ automotive engineering experience.
• Strong project management, coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive activities to completion.
• Strong understanding of drivetrain fundamentals and automotive systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, and validation of automatic transmissions, driveline systems and components.
• Optimize designs and contribute to innovative solutions for improved performance and reliability.
• Coordinate design release activities and technical requirements for driveline components with suppliers, CAE, and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with CAE, NVH, durability, vehicle dynamics, packaging, and manufacturing teams for seamless integration.
• Support validation activities and coordinate with validation/CAE teams to ensure testing deliverables.
• Identify and resolve technical issues using root cause analysis.
• Drive supplier design approvals and adherence to engineering practices.
• Develop and maintain core DFMEA and DVP documents for driveline systems.
• Proactively seek opportunities to improve designs, processes, products.
• Generate detailed system/sub-system technical specifications (SSTS/TTS).
• Mentor and provide technical direction to other engineers.
• Identify areas to reduce total warranty costs and propose solutions.
• Prepare and present technical reports and design reviews to stakeholders.
• Stay up-to-date with advancements in transmissions and driveline technologies.
